Oil level is low on new engine?

Oil level is low on new engine? Had the first start up/heat cycle and everything seems normal, but when I checked the oil level today it is almost 1 quart low. Is this normal for a new engine? Also, how many heat cycles are too many for a new engine?....still on stands trying to get clutch bled....Thanks for the help.

Put 5.5 quarts and the dip stick level is on the add line. I did use a tall filter and filled/primed it before I installed it..... that is probably where some of the missing oil is ending up.
