Default insanity check pushrod length PLEASE

Okay so putting together my lq4 bottom end CNC'd ls3 heads milled .030 and cometic .040" gaskets.

got the cylinder in question at TDC, made sure the adj pushrod checker is on the base circle and come up with something int he 8.00" range which sounds completely wrong to me in every shape and form, the pushrod tool I was using (comp cams 7702) only goes to 7.800"

we made a solid lifter with washers, and set it to no preload and measured with the cometics

I know I have to be doing something wrong...can someone please set me straight? I've never heard of this long of a pushrod in an LSX motor?

this stopped me from claying the pistons today to check my PTV
