cam break-in lube??

Default cam break-in lube??

im about to throw different cam in my car and i can't remember what break-in lube i used last time. today i bought STA-LUBE moly-graphite engine assembly lube. will this work? a couple of gm techs said they use this on lifters and cams for 5.3 trucks. the cam brand is comp cam. thanks

I used plain old Mobil 1 5W-30. Our cams our hydraulic roller so no break in is neccesary. Unless your talking about assembly lube, thats different. Still, I just soaked it in oil and put it in.

no need for any special break-in lube for a roller style cam. Just put fresh engine oil on the cam before you slide it in. You only need cam break-in lube for flat tappet style cams

Yeah no break in oil, now break in lube only if you want to use it no reason to, same here Mobile 1 5W-30

I use crane cam break in lube on the comp cam just for safe measure. but you dont have to unless u want to.

Often you can use assembly lube on the cam journals. Especially if its going to be sitting for some time.

I use Redline Assembly Lube. It dissolves quickly in oil. I wouldn't use what you have because I believe it has particulate in it that can get caught in the oil filter.
