Timing chain question... Hey guys, new member here, gonna be installin an LQ4 in my S10. Engine is a used unit out of an '03 Yukon XL. Plans are to convert a T56 from LT to LS duty, and run a 4-barrel carb setup with a 150 wet shot. Engine will remain stock at this time. Finish it off with a triangulated 4 link in the rear, with Koni dbl adjustable coilovers front/rear. Wilwood 4 piston front brake kit and a built 10 bolt with Moser Axles and Richmond gearset. I had a few questions just to clarify on a few points.
1) I want to install a dbl roller timing chain on my engine. Does the LS1 timing chain/gear fit the LQ4? I see those all over the place, and have heard that they are identical, but all of them don't include the 6.0 in their application lists.
2) I have been looking for a good gapless ring kit (gapless top ring) for a few days and haven't found one for my application. I want to confirm that the rings are 1.5, 1.5, and 3, and if anyone can provide a link to such a kit?
3) I have heard of hones for re-finishing the crosshatching in the cylinders, some call them "dingleberry hones". As this will be done in a shop with a friend of mine, we can do the honing ourselves, but I am not sure what diameter hone to buy. Logic tells me the 4.00 inch bore would require a slightly larger hone, such as a 4.125 or 4.250 to do the job. However, I want to be certain, so I can cut downtime on this build as much as possible.
