Default How much is this block worth?

Hey guys,

Recently my number 1 piston detonated, into a million pieces.

There's some slight scoring.. but everything moves perfectly. There are ZERO holes/cracks in the block. This kid I know is planning on rebuilding an LS1 to drop into his V6 Firebird, and he asked how much I would want for it. but idk how much it's worth?

It would be JUST the block, pistons, crankshaft, internals, etc. No cam, timing chain, oil pump, oil pan, valley cover.. none of that. Bare shortblock.

How much could I sell it for?

Thanks fellas

Well considering he will have to do some machine work to it... And I can't tell, but that scoring in the #1 hole looks kind of deep. (can't really tell due to pics) I would just sell him the block, stock internals are junk since the block needs to be bored and honed. $400 or so I would say... That's JMO though.

I believe he's planning on redoing everything to begin with. Pistons and all.. The scoring isn't deep, a little machining would fix that.

So do you think a bare (no timing chain, oil pump, oil pan, cam, any of that) ls1 block with about 80K could sell for $400?

Probably. He knows he's looking at about $1000 in machine work once he gets the new internals right?
