Your redline or your rev limiter? I ran the same duration on that cam in my Z. Your powerband will increase over stock.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and venture that you are an M6.

Your power will not be as early on as it was with the stock cam. I shifted mine at 6600. But you are going to want to have the bottom end to support shifting up past the stock limiter.

Curious, is this the part number?: XER273HR-14

Yeah, thats the cam. Did you get it from Speed Inc?

Going from stock to that cam you will notice a big increase. I went from a stock to a 236 cam and then down to that cam for a nitrous setup. Your rearend will go when it goes.
You wont need to shift that cam up too high since its got some pretty good midrange power. 6200 would probably be just fine. You would need to upgrade rod bolts if you planned to go deep red with it. If you get it tuned and they dont move your rev-limiter from stock position you wont have a choice. lol.

whether your rear will hold up or not is a crap shoot...some have seen them go on the street with street tires, some have made it into the 12s even 11s on DR's....If your like most LSx enthusiasts youll know to swap it out before it leaves you high and dry. just watch the hard launches, clutch dumps, and hard shifts (yes, i know, everything fun to do with a t56....)

reason the rev limiter is so low on stock motors is so you dont bend pushrods, hopefully you replaced these with some chromoly units...stock ones will bend over 6k...and its because the stock cam doesnt make power above 6k... and youll have a noticable increase in power, depends on tune and other supporting mods.

I'm shifting my 228r at 6k rpms, I could go a little higher, but 6k is where it really tops out w/ my heads.

That cam will make its peak power in the 6200-6300 RPM range...you typically shift a few hundred RPMs higher than your power peak... say 6600-6700 RPMs ... it is a good all around cam and it will make good under the curve power for street use and occasional trips to the drag strip......you tuner should have adjusted your rev limiter (fuel shutoff) when he tuned the car.

Actually the rev limiter is set so low so there is no valve float. The stock set up is by far no the best for high RPM revs(6200 rpms at best). Z's from factory had the LS1 H/C set up the same as the LS1 corvette and the springs are not the best by any means. Get your self some 918s/new push rods and call it a day.

enjoy and have fun

That cam is gonna want to be shifted higher than any 6k or 6200. My buddys 228 cam only car liked the shift light set to 6500, and the shift actually occurred a lil higher than that. After you get the dyno chart, see where it peaks, then shift it 300 rpms higher for starters. See how it feels. I tried different shift light settings on my car while at the track to see what yielded the best trap speeds.

The stock fuel cutoff is set at 6200 not because it would bend push rods, but because there is no need in revving higher. The stock cam flat lines around 5500. Also like C5 said, you could experience valve float with the stock springs if you rev it out to far.

If you want a little piece of mind until you get the 9", you can put an LPW rear girdle on it until then. I can't tell you how many 4500 RPM launches I've done with a stock 10-bolt, 4.10 gears, and LPW cover...

Trust me, you dont want the tuner to "remove the rev limiter".
