Question Are my valves to big?

I have a set of stage 2 heads from ARE and originally was going with a super charger. For that reason I have 2.05 valves with a 588 lift and 229 duration.Hows this set up going to worl for me if I dont do the SC?

You didn't say what size motor you have. But if it is a 347 then the 2.055's won't hurt you but they probably won't help either. A all stroke motor with stock bore definitely could derive some benefit from the 2.055's as in a 383 or 396. If you have larger than stock bore then you will see the most benefit out of the 2.055's.

2.05's won't hurt, but I doubt the gain will be much better than a 2.02.

Large valves can be a good thing if you use them to change the shape of the inlet runner.
Not so many years ago the tuners thought that if you put the biggest valves and ported the biggest inlet runner and they will get a huge performance gain.

I know lot´s of peeps stare on the flowbench numbers and belive that the more flow the more power. Well.... why not make a 10" runner?
That will sure increase the flow & performance right?? NOT!

Today most pro tuners know it won't work that way.
High flowing runners is good as long as they keep the high velocity, And it's very hard to keep the air speed up, if the port and the valve is too big!

So back to your valve question.. It can be both Yes and No..
It depends on how they made the heads? Is the runners much bigger? Or have they used the larger valveseat to make a really smooth passage for the air/fuel mix?? I´m curious.. I mostly use large valves to make the valveseat passage more smooth, not because i want to enlarge the hole..
I'm curious how your heads looks like!
