Head/Cam Swap problems...

Default Head/Cam Swap problems...

A friend just did a heads/cam swap on my LS1 gto.. the heads are TEA (Total Engine Airflow) Stage 2 5.3l heads, and the cam is 236/242 .580 .590 114 LSA. It starts just fine... but you have to give it just a little gas (and keep giving it gas...) to keep it above 1k rpm...or it dies.... I brought it to DRM (Doug Rippie Motorsports, a dominant Corvette shop in Buffalo MN) and he is skeptical....thinks there may be something wrong.... any ideas? I also had pacesetter LT's installed, and a full 3" dual exhaust install if that helps. Doug said the exhaust guy did something wrong with the O2 sensors, and i have a broken temp sensor (both of which I have him fixing)... Just wanted to give all the information, and thanks for any and all help!

Did you get the car tuned? You will need a tune after all of that work

DRM is where i brought it to be tuned... hes nervous... it runs great (as far as i can tell) as long as you keep it above 1k rpm... we did a few revs to 5k and its still in one piece lol...

just spoke with him again.... he has it running/tuned and idling at steady 1k... but it only put out 425 at the crank... needless to say i was hoping for a LOT more than that... any guesses?

so you do a head and cam swap and the car has a hard time idling and your "tuner" is nervous b/c of this? LMAO
