cam question 2? i have decided just to mill down the 317s .035. could i run something like a torquer 2 on a stock lq4 shortblock without ptv problems and have enough compression to keep the cam happy

112lsa and i dont know the icl. its just the tsp "shelf" cam. would i be better off to not mill the heads and throw a set of forged flat tops in it? considering your level of experience what would you recommend for my setup. lq4 stock bottom end(will upgrade to forged flat tops if need be), 317 heads, whatever valvesprings i need for cam, carbed intake and a QF SS780 or 880 carb. 3200-3600 stall. 373 gears in a full weight MCSS with no plans for N20 or boost.

Any time you mill, you are reducing the available clearance. The only way to know for sure would be to mock up the heads and cam and measure your clearance. Once you have the cam degreed in and check, then you will know where you stand. Once you go that far, notching for additional clearance is only one more step. Forged pistons shouldn't be necessary at your proposed power level, but compression is your friend when you put a larger cam in. If it's in your budget, it leaves you room to upgrade later.
You may be better off getting a cam spec'd to your needs, especially since you will be running a carb.
