Default Windage tray question

my LQ4 motors always have windafe trays that cover the entire crankshaft, while on my ls1, the first two cylinders on the crank are visible. Ayone know why they dont shield them?

On f-bodies the oil pan is very shallow at the front to clear the steering rack, there's no room between the crank and pan to fit the tray there. The pan is so shallow there that GM cast a divot in the pan to clear the #1 rod.
