Default How often should you change your Comp 918 Springs?

Just what the title says looking for a general rule of thumb have about 5-6k on mine and was wondering how much longer until I should change them out?

Depends on the cam and how hard you are on the valvetrain.

Some people with more mild cams like mine (B1) have 30K+ street miles with the same set.

I don't even plan to think about changing them till 30 or 40K, and maybe not even then. Under the conditions that I use my car and with my setup, I could probably get over 50K on the same set.

Obviously though, intervals will very with setup and usage...

13K on mine. If you aren't lifting to the moon on an XE-R cam, you should be able to get at least 20-25K on them with little track time and a mainly street driven car. My cam's a 222/222 .566 and so far so good.

I think annual is a good rule of thumb for cams near 230. For cams over 230 you might want to go to duals or change springs every 7 to 10 months for peace of mind.

I'm running a TR 224 and will probably change them around 12-15K just for the Hell of it. That is if I can keep from doing heads and a larger cam!

Stupid question - but how can you tell when the springs fail, or become weak (in the case of a spring not actually breaking)? I know that valve float is one of the consequences, but is there a change in sound? Loss of power? Pieces of the engine coming out the exhaust tips?
