Is there a difference between 243 and 799 casting heads? Any differences at all?

The only difference is the 243 heads off Z06's have lighter hollow intake valves and sodium filled exhaust valves......

243's also came on LS2's with out the hallow valve.
only the 243's that cam on the Z06's had the hallow valves, all other 243's have solid valves.
The 799's also came on the LS2's. The 799 is an different cast than the 243, but they use the same design. Some engine builders state that in stock form the 243's is slightly different than the 799's. Either way they are both great heads.
SDPC sale the 243's with the solid valves right at $300 per head, NEW casts.

More than anything it's the casting numbers. Like mentioned above some of the 243's that were put on C5 Z06 cars had a better spring and lightweight valve. However the majority of them that are available now do not have the lightweight valve option. If you are purchasing them new, they will be the same heads.
