Default radical camshaft / pass emissions ?

Hello everyone , I am wondering how radical a camshaft I can install in my 2001 5.3l along with ported exhaust ports and int and exh polished . I will install new lifters and pro stock behives with it . Everything else will remain stock with the exception that I may install shorty headers in the future and still be able to be tuned to pass emissions in Maricopa county , AZ . Thanx for any feedback . chris

I wouldn't bother with a cam w/o headers.

I have seen 218/218 on a 114LSA pass on a 5.3 and I would think a 220/220 would also....

Hey , You would'nt put a cam in without headers because it would'nt be realising all the gain potential ? BTW thanx 4 the reply .

get a large traditional split and you'll be fine, i dont have much experience with 5.3s but id think something like 216/224 would work nicely

keeping the stock manifolds may help with emissions and will keep the cam sounding a lot more tame
