Default Torquer V2 MPG

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the forums and recently picked up a 2001 SS Camaro last fall from a friend of mine. Over the Winter I did a light build on the car which includes the mods listed below. I just recently got the car out of storage about 3 weeks ago and had the car tuned. After the tune the car runs great and idles fine but I am seeing pretty low gas mileage, lower than my tuner had anticipated. I drive about 50 percent highway and 50 percent city and have been keeping my foot out of the gas to see if I get any better mileage or not but the car has been consistently averaging 13 MPG. I have not even seen 14 MPG with the car since it's been tuned, does this seem a bit low for my mods? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Mods Include:

Torquer V2 Cam 112 LSA
Comp Cams 918 Beehive Springs
QTP Long Tube Headers
Custom off road y-pipe with Flowmaster Merge
SLP catback
SLP smooth bellow
Aftermarket air lid
K&N Filter
ASP Underdrive Crank Pulley
180* T-Stat
3.73 Gears
Stock 10 Bolt

Does seem low, especially for a 6 speed car with gears.

Have you tried changing the fuel filter?

I actually haven't tried changing the fuel filter yet, car just rolled over 23,000 miles but I'm sure that the fuel filter is the original so it might help to change that

Qaes it does seeem low to me. If its running in closed loop I would check your o2 sensors. I've tuned a trex cam gto that was getting 10 in town. It now gets around 17 mpg in town. My car has a cam with a little more overlap than the torquer and I get 18-20 intown and 24-28 highway. My tune that eliminates all bucking and surging gets 13 mpg in town.

I run a similiar sized cam and got 22+ hwy and about 15-16 on a SS3600 vertor. Went to new heads and switched to 42lb injectors and haven't calculated it yet but took a big hit...

well I took the car back to my tuner this weekend and we took it out to see if there was anything in the tune that could be adjusted but the tune is right on so there's nothing to be done tune wise to help out my mileage situation. I was told by a few people that a fuel filter wouldn't be a cause in this situation. I'm not sure if there's anything else I'm missing to check since the car has new plugs in it already and the car only has 23k miles. I might try running something through the motor to clean out carbon as suggested but wanted to see if there's anything else I should check as well. Thanks for all the input so far guys

So have you changed the fuel filter yet?

I know the car has low miles, but with the shitty gas we can get these days its worth a try and its cheap.

I have not changed the fuel filter yet as it was just replaced last Fall and was told that it wouldn't be an issue at this point. I might replace it shortly though just for maintenance reasons to know its been done recently because like you've stated it's cheap but I'm not expecting that to help with my mileage problem at all.

Mine stays right at 17-18 city and about 23 hwy.
Yours has 3.73 vs 3.42 . Did you happen to have your speedo corrected for the gear change ?
Not sure how much of a difference that would make. Just throwing it out there.

I think its just the nature of the beast, I have similar mods and after having the car tuned, my MPGs dropped as well. Granted, I was expecting this and have not averaged out my MPG's, but I know its dropped and just one of the sacrifices of modding a stock car that was designed to meet certain CAFE requirements.
