Question cooling issues revisited

ok now that its finnaly getting warm out again my cooling issues have come back.basicly a quick rundown on the car it a 98 z28 m6,stock longblock, usual bolt ons and free mods.problem started before putting n2o on the car.so when driving on a warmer day with outside ambient temp above 60deg my car stays at the same temp which is about 186deg which is what my t stat is.
now if i turn my a/c on max or start getting on it a bunch or even try to drive somewhat spirited my car starts to heat up to about 220 deg ish according ot my guage and the hand held obd2 scanner.it will get hotter but i keep a eye on it all the time.now both my low speed and high speed fans work and turn on.my cooling system is fully bleed and there is no air in the system and i have replaced the tstat and coolant.coolant level never drops and stays full and i am about 95% sure nothing is cloged.i have only one idea of what it could be and want some opinions from you guys.i found out from the casting numbers on my waterpump that it is a 2006 ls2 GTO waterpump.only reason i know that cause the problem i had trying to get my tstat.i am guessing that either the pump has a higher gpm or a smaller pulley than a normal ls1 waterpump.i ended up replacing the serpintine belt with the one called for the GTO which is around a half inch shorter due to throwing the belt a few times after replacing my tensioner.and no more belt throwing.
do you guys think this could be the reason my car will heat up easy on a hot day?
thanks joe

how would a higher flowing higher volume pump make your car run hotter? if you changed the t-stat and coolent, i would guess you either dont have all the air out of the system even tho you think you do (these cars are a bitch to bleed) or you have a plug somewhere. also, you may try pulling the radiator and inspecting the fins for bent fins or **** between them.

A higher flowing pump can cause the coolant to flow to fast and not cool, but i think its more of a problem of rotation due to the shorter belt size than stock.the belt sizing issue came to light when i thought my tensioner was bad due to my belt shooting off a few times.i can swear the pulley is smaller than a ls1 pump even though all info i have seen says no.i am going to try and measure tommorow.all the air is out,i bleed the system for 30 min and yes it was a huge pain in the ***.i have bleed the system numerous times cause i thought that may be the problem.i am bleeding from the hose that runs from the cross over that connects both heads.did pull the rad last summer when dealing with this problem and inspected it then fins were a little cloged on the out side but i cleaned it up and all the fins a good and not bent.this has been the only thing to really **** me off with this car and im finnaly getting sick of it

if it works on an LS2 goat, it works on an F-body. a higher flowing waterpump cools better because it returns water to the radiator faster. if it really did cool less like you say, edelbrock would be out of the waterpump business. that is there whole claim to fame on the water pumps is higer rate of flow and more flow.

typiclay a higher flowing pump does work better yes.you know i just thought about it and realized that if the belt is shorter the pulley would be bigger in turn it would spin slower,so that could do it as well but this whole problem is starting to annoy me.and a ls2 pump should not cause a problem it really the only thing i can come up with. any other thoughts or suggestions? i may just throw a new rad as a just in case there cheap enough.any one know the diamiter of a stock ls1 waterpump pulley off the top of there heads?
thanks joe
