Default Refreshing 317s..

What all is needed to do a full refresh on some 317s? Ive never done much with heads aside from swapping valve springs. Thanks.

Hey! Long time no see! You get rid of the S10?

Anyway, Did you pull these heads off your current setup or did you just get them used? Good place to start is new valve seals and locks and retainers along with a cleanup mill unless you are going for compression which I think that is what you are trying to lower if this is a turbo car. You going to run an LS6 cam?

Lol ya it has! I havent had the s10 for over 2 years now. I have the T/A, with a crewcab s10 as my daily. The 317s were used, supposedly with 30k miles on em. Im keeping the stock cam for now, already have a set of ls6 yellows on the heads. Ive actually had the heads on the car and Ive been running around for about 150 miles with em. Im getting a big backfire on decel so I dont know if its due to the turbo that I discovered was blown causing a restriction or maybe a sticking exhaust valve. Im waiting on the turbo to come back from the manufacturer for warranty work, and figured I might pull em off and get that checked out. A compression test should reveal if the heads need cleaned up. Maybe do a leakdown too.

I would do leakdown for sure. I would atleast cleanup mill like 0.003 those heads. Just to make sure they are true. The other thing you could do is probably shine up the exhaust ports a bit. I did that with my 317's had a 9.8:1 CR on my Z28 with -4cc Diamonds.
