Default cam experts please check this out

ok, i am going to cam my cts v BUT, i plan on keeping the stock exhaust system. I KNOW, I KNOW, im handicapping the car alot, but i have my crazy car, this is just a fun family hauler, it replaced my TBSS. i was thinking of going with a 224 cam with lift low enough to use the stock yellow springs so something in the .560-.570 range and keep the lope down so a lsa of 114-116. im no cam expert so what i wanted to know is this, with the handicap of the stock exhaust what can i change about the cam to optimize the gains. will going with more duration help or tighter or looser LSA give any better gains? thanks in advance for any help.

is that an LS2 or LS6?? the LS2's used the 530 lift springs...
with a stock exhaust, i'd use something like a 222/230, on a 114 or 115

It is not only a question of lift, it is also and mainly a question of open/close seat pressures. GT2-3 from Lingenfelter is one of the cams known to be handled by those springs IIRC.
Others just simply have too harsh lobe profiles and require spring chnge.
For your car with stock manifolds, TR CheaTR V3 cam would be worth a look at, will need springs.

yeah, after thinking things over a bit i did decide to just suck it up, i have a set or prc dual springs sitting on my shelf, and ill go ahead and put them in while im at it. no reason to be lazy and mess something up. i will check out that cam you suggested. oh and to the other poster, its a 05 V which came with the ls6
