Question Lifter Question for Tool

I currently have Comp R lifters and was curious as to what you guys use when doing a cam swap so they don't fall? I was looking at the tool offered by sponsors, but it says it will not work with Comp R lifters????

Or 80-90 PSI, from an air compressor, into the cylinder.

Ditto what Brian said ..

Air will hold the valves closed, but won't do **** to the lifters once the pushrods are removed.

If they wont stay up on their own then you either have to use the magnets, or remove the heads and the lifters.

If it was on a stand I guess you could turn it upside down.

Well I don't know if we just got lucky or if what we did worked. We didn't have any 1/4 rod available, so instead we use 1/4" copper SOLID coated electrical wire. Slid right in and worked great. Like I said, don't know if we got lucky or what but installation went without a hitch. Total time for the cam swap was 4 hours including time to eat the pizza. Thanks for the input guys.

I did a cam install on a 99 this weekend, and had to run to Sears Hardware to pick up some 5/16" steel rod. I welded little handles on 'em (ain't that cute), slid 'em in, and they worked like a charm. Next time I decide to swap cams in my car I'll see what it takes with Comp R lifters Hmm, that'll only be cam #5 ....

Brains, I used the solid wire with Comp R lifters. Like I said, either I got lucky, or the **** worked.
