Default Re-installing stock Rockers??

Ive had my heads off for a little while now and next week I will be putting the top end back together. I was wondering if there were any tricks to re-installing the rockers and setting them to the correct tq specs? I read on ls1how-to that they just bolt down and tq them in 2 passes to the required tq specs. Is that the correct way? Or do I need special tools to set the correct lash?

there is no lash on stock rockers. they are self adjusting, so all you have to do is torque them to 22ft lbs. first do it to 10 ft lbs then to 22...but i am just doing this from memory, check your user guide to be safe.

on these engines we adjust lifter preload with the pushrod

you need a pushrod length checker

you need to do two passes ? i just thought it was 24ft/lb and that is it

When tightening the rockers, make sure you only tighten the rocker when its respective lifter is on the cam's base circle.

Here is the GM procedure. Also, I like to use some Redline Assembly Lube on the rocker tip and pushrod tip to prevent a dry start since it takes a while for oil to come up from the lifter.
