Just talked to my builder, he likes the idea of a under square engine so I'm looking at the 3.900 crank and 4.030 bore, difference between a 397.9 and 408 is nothing CID wise. Suggestions? What length rod and cc pistons for n20/na with heavy ported 243s

Try Probe, part number 14512.

You can use a 6.125" rod with these pistons, and it ends up with "zero deck" at a 9.230" deck height. Have the deck cut another .010" so that the pistons are out of the hole .010" and use LS3 MLS headgaskets. Mill the heads to 62cc, and you'll have roughly 11.3:1 compression ratio.

However, my only concern is the pin used in these things. I've seen Probe use way too thin of a wall thickness in their pins, so you may want to call and see what it is first, and then maybe see if they have an upgrade. Also, they list using a 2.5" length pin. I've heard that other manufacturers use a shorter 2.25" pin for extra room away from the reluctor. Just a couple thoughts.

for my next motor i was wanting to do a 370 with around 11.5:1 comp, wiseco pistons, and callies h-beam rods with the stock crank. ARP main studs and ARP bolts through out. With some trick flow 235 heads, custom cam, vic jr intake, with a direct port and a plate kit. Just an idea

around 500-525 on motor would make me happy. With a 200 through the DP and 150 through the plate. Probly going to get started on that the first of next year.

edit: this is going to be more on the race car side of things so it may not be as great of an idea if you wanting a great street car. My car already has alot of weight out of it and after i finish the th400 swap the next phase of mods is a manual steering rack, abs delete, and a 10pt cage. So were probly going two different routes here

General consensus of the search seems to say that .030 bore is safe for n20?

i thought about sticking a 4.8 crank in a 6.0 block for 333 cubes....that would be a high revving peaky bitch.

Nickle and dime build
Forced Induction

I will say if you are planning to do this, you are a very patient person. I've seen very few people finish a project that way (give up half way through collecting parts, or wife yells at them to get that "god damn car" off the jack stands and out of the garage), but I'm behind you 100% if you can pull it off

Haha well you see I have no wife to yell at me, live by myself and use my own shop so I have a better shot at it then most I'd say. I'm kinda leanin towards the 398 turbo route now
