Default Patriot heads Vs TSP ?

Ive been thinking more and more since i did my cam swap about doing some heads as well. I am broke now so AFR's and TFS are out of the question. Ive been comparing flow numbers and things like that from the patriot to the TSP 1.0 LS6 heads.

I just wanted some feed back as to which ones have better fit and finish and workmanship. Also if anyone has used these what were your dyno numbers?

Thanks guys

I picked up this setup from another member here for my 99 a4.
Patriot 243 Heads CNC'd and TR cam 228/232 112+2 LSA.

So far, I have been pretty happy with the set-up. The car dynoed at 331 with bolt-ons.
After the H&C and the new wheels, it dynoed at 391.2 rwhp and 385.4 tq. The guys at the shop said it would easily be over 400 rwhp if I had smaller wheels.

Tsp and patriot both use stock gm casting. So if you get the ls6 head from either it will be the same casting, but then they each will do work to the head, install bigger valves, retainers, springs ect..

So as far as fit or finish goes, they should be the same. As far as numbers go, its hard to say. I know patriot has a 5 axis cnc they use, im not sure Prc uses(tsp uses prc for heads). I know alot of people have had great results with both companies, so i say pick one, and you wont be upset.

Were those numbers through a ls1 intake manifold?

We use 5-axis Haas machines for porting, a Haas machine for milling, and Newins for the valvejobs.

One of the biggest differences between us (and there are plenty, but this I'm very proud to say) is the online presence, support, and tech help that Texas Speed/PRC offers before and after the sale!

i would have no doubts picking up a set of PRC heads. the TSP PRC 2.5 LS6 is what i would buy for a budget.

Very true. It's tough to find better customer service than from the guys at Texas Speed.

Not trying to be a nut-swinger by any means, but I'll give credit where credit is due.

TSP says with the stage 1 LS6 heads gains of over 50 RWHP. Can anyone confirm this?

No, had the LS6 intake, kooks LT, catted y, borla catback.

Oh and the first dyno was a dyno jet, the second (after H&C) was a load bearing dyno...not sure how that factors in on the numbers as well.

Have to agree w/tsp service. I was impressed by how quick and detailed their responses were by e mail AND on the phone. Great company.

Load bearing dynos, like mustang dynos, usually read around 8-10% lower, now the numbers seem correct

prc heads use iron valve guides which allows the use of stock rocker.I feel the iron guide will wear less.

i went with the PRC stg 2.5 ls6 heads/tsunami cam from Texas-Speed. Didnt even get them milled down at all like others do to ensure my ptv would be ok. My car put down 444whp and trapped 122 this week with the stock 3.42 gears. Call them up at TSP, you wont be disappointed.
