Default What would you do different with this build?

I haven't been keeping up with new mods for the last year or two, but this is what I was planning to build for the past couple of years, but wanted to get some opinions in case anything newer/better has been found. Current mods are in sig. I have a set of Patriot LS6 243 heads with stock valve size and stock combustion chambers ready to go on. My planned additions are:

MS3 cam
LS2 timing chain
.040" head gaskets
TSP ported LS6 oil pump
New fuel injectors

My 5-7 year old coated Pacesetter headers are also starting to look a bit rough, so will probably replace those. I was also thinking about getting the heads milled to increase compression. Any thoughts/ideas?

Personally i would have someone spec a custom grind for your setup.. It may be a little more costly but i believe you would benefit overall. Also if you mill the heads you might want to go with a cam that has less lift unless you want to fly cut valve reliefs, or maybe a thicker head gasket. Definitely go with like 36# or 38# and at your stock fuel pressure that will put them around 41-42#.

+1 on the custom cam and ive never heard anything good about patriot except for there valve springs. Id ditch them and go with some from texas speed if your on a budget.

Patriot heads have already been purchased (about a year and a half ago), so they'll probably need to stick around. I'm okay with flycutting, probably going to pull the engine to do the work. Some things I just realized I didn't add to my sig is I have the Racetronix fuel pump setup and a stage 2 ACE 4L60E.

with a custom cam you will not need to fly cut the piston. you can tailor you lift around correct valve events.

That will depend on the cam that is spec'd. The only way you "wouldn't" have to fly cut is to tell the cam guy you don't want to.
