Default Oil for forged na 347?

Just trying to get a straight answer here.. I've been using good ole' M1 10w-30, but my car seems to be using almost 2 quarts between oil changes.. I've been reading and it seems forged engines are more prone to oil consumption due to being heavier and having a slower piston expansion.. So what would help remedy this in terms of oil for these motors? Thanks!

Mike

this may not apply because i have an LT1 but this motor is all forged and uses 20w50 valvoline VR1 racing oil, ive been beating the hell out of it with many 7000 RPM burnouts and my oil is still clean and full after 1000 miles.

I recommend German Castrol synthetic 0w-30. It is all I run in any of my cars.

We are running the same in our LSX 454: Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil 20w50. So far so good.

you should check into upgrading your pcv system.with more power comes more internal pressure.look inside your intake ,do you see oil residue on the the floor of the intake?

I'm running the LS6 valley cover with the oil separator/valve built in along with a Rev xtreme can.. Haven't looked in the intake yet.

Bump for new info. I have a forged 347 in my car as well with under 500 miles on the new build. Just looking for some oil recommendations. I noticed little to no oil smoke on the very first startup, and none after that incl. during the ring seating process. I am guessing the PTW clearance and ring gaps were set fairly tight. I have also installed modified Lowes "catch cans" between the passenger valve cover and throttle body, and the LS6 PCV system and intake manifold.
