Default Question about LQ4/9

It finally dawned on me that the LQ4 and LQ9 are Gen III engines. I was wondering what miscellaneous parts I would need to use a LQ shortblock with my LS1. (Yes i searched, didn't find anything specific enough)

everything is direct swap. all sensor locations are the same and the only thing missing is 1 bolt hole for the alt that can be drilled and tapped if you choose

Alright. The one hole that needs to be drilled doesn't affect the integrity in the block in any way, does it?

Of course not. Everyone who does the swap has to tap that hole.

Basically every GM SUV from 2000ish to 2007 came with either an LQ4 or an LQ9 as an option. I don't remember specific years.

I think that all LQ's have a 24x crank, but not 100% sure.

It has to do with the reluctor wheel on the crank. F-Body cranks had 24 teeth on the wheel, hence the 24x. Corvette cranks had 58 teeth, so they are 58x. I'm not 100%sure what all the truck blocks are.

i believe the older models like pre 2000 have iron heads and some lq's have an extended crank which you will want one that is flush. Just look for something like 03 and up and you should have no worries. I would send a pm to a guy on here named "burgers". He gets 6.0's all the time at a great price and hes the guy i got my shortblock from and it runs great. If your interested i put a link to one of his FS threads so you can get in contact with him. Also make sure you get a dished flexplate not a flat one as the flat one will not work with your starter w/o having a spacer behind the flexplate.
