anyway to clean an ls6 oil pump

Default anyway to clean an ls6 oil pump
the new camaro I got broke a valve spring and locked the motor, it just locked up because of friction and had good oil pressure I want to use my oil pimp since it was new, is there anyway to clean it or should I get a new one?? Trying to save alittle cash but not at a shot block cost, no shavings in the pan, just chunks or piston.

take it apart, douche it with brake clean, put it back together. just make sure its centered correctly before you torque the cover down.

I have done that before on ford oil pumps, and always put some petroluem jelly on the gears for initial start up. Is that okay on an LS pump?

yes, thats fine. just make sure the rotor is centered with the body before you install the cover.

The outer "round" gear has a chamfer on one side, that must go towards the casting. When in right it will be on the block side of the pump.

Thanks for the info. I am pulling the pump out tonight and cleaning it up, and putting my cam, lifters, oil pump and pan all in. Tomorrow my head comes back from the machine shop from repair and I will put the heads and intake on. Hopefully can fire it up this weekend.
