Got the car dynoed :(

Well I went ahead and installed the AFR 205 heads with MS4 cam.. Dyno numbers came in at 400 hp to the wheels. Car it stock 2001 ls1 short block, ms4 cam, AFR 205 heads, LT headers, 4000 Stall, 3.23 gears. Yes I know gears are killing me but do you think hp numbers are down?

Well you said you got it dynoed. Did you get it tuned or just a pull?
Was it a mustang dyno?

Orangeapeel hit on some of the most important points. Remember an Automatic car will not dyno as high as a manual car; especially with a higher stall torque converter that is unlocked. Also some dynos are just stingy and you will just not get the inflated numbers that someone else gets on a happy dyno, that is why dynos are primarily tuning tools. They are good to baseline and to see how your car is progressing with the things you add. Many things can influence those results, temperature, elevation, tuning, drivetrain loss (gear ratio, gear size, type of transmission, etc).

For an unlocked tc, untuned, auto car 400 rwhp would be very decent!

Big stalls and dynos dont mix that well. Track times show you what you really have.

yeah dont be too disappointed.. you got one of the best heads in the market, and huge cam, that thing should roll out like a monster.

This was dyno tuned at tx speed. Feels stronger up top but we will see tonight as I have a few runs lined up. I'll see if I can post chart.

definatly should roll out, mine made the same numbers with an even bigger motor and a horrible exhaust, will smoke um up into third. have fun with it.

That would make he happy through a stalled A4, how big is your stall? You can't compare dyno numbers with a M6 car the auto takes ponies to run. I was extremely un happy with my dyno numbers till my tuner told me his low 9 sec NA Trans Am with a th350 made low to mid 400's rwhp on his same dyno...

Let me join the parade as I agee with the above posts. With that big a stall it will not show well on the dyno unless you can lock it. You will have to take it to the track and see what she does. Be prepared to be pinned back in your seat.

dyno numbers are for impressing high school kids and ricers anyway. the car should haul *** to some low 11 second timeslips,and thats what really matters.

my car put down 442 unlocked 469 locked with ms4 and afr 225 heads 4k stall 373s out back the heads were 59cc

Agreed with everything above my car has never been a big dyno performer. It made 455 on a Mustang dyno thru my unlocked 5K converter,12 bolt,slicks. Timeslip says otherwise take it down the track the slip is the piece of paper that counts. reason I asked about the curve earlier was to see if it was a mechanical issue. If it peaks at 5700rpms sorta thing.
