When is piston clearancing needed???
When is piston clearancing needed??? I'm getting a cam from a friend 230/228 on a 112 waiting for the lift specs but I imagine they will be relatively high in the .580 range at least. He is giving me a great deal and if I don't get the results I want from it then he'll refund my money 
Anyhoo I'm going to be using stock heads with combination motorsports springs and titanium retainers. I've been hearing alot about Piston to valve clearance with cams like the G5X-2 (or whatever that LG cam is) with stock heads when do you have to start worrying about that?

as long as your heads arent milled a 230/228 ~.580 lift 112lsa should clear.
the x2 is 232/240 .595/609 112, which is bigger then yours, and the x3 is clearing stock heads as well and its bigger then the x2.

With stock heads you'll be fine. P/V clearence becomes a problem with alot of lift, duration and advance. 230+ duration, .600+ lift, and 4+ degrees of advance are all good reasons to start checking P/V clearence.
Cool I didn't want to have to take off the heads, and if I did I they would be replaced with ported heads which raises costs up quite a bit. I'm trying to do a "good" budget buildup. With the mods in the sig and maybe a ASP pulley...
