Default 5.3l & turbo reliability issues

I've been giving a lot of thought latley to a new project car, that would actually be a daily driver, but would involve a 5.3l truck pullout auto trans and a single turbo...

I'm trying to determine realistic power goals, and their reliability. What starts to become a liabilty as power output increases. At what power level do ARP head studs need to be considered? How much can the stock pistons take? At what point are the stock forged powdered metal rods reaching their limits?

Ideally i'd like to select a proper cam, with vavles springs and really keep everything else as close to stock (hardware) as possible....then increase boost/flow up to my safe/reliable limit.
