Default Emissions

Any suggestions on a cam design which would probably aid in passing an emissions test in a 427, 10.6:1 compression- assuming a good tune, & emissions equipment still installed.

I know keeping as small an overlap as possible is key- but will things such as reverse split pattern aid in keeping emissions down?

Single pattern with higher LSA will help a lot for emissions.

Something like a 240/240 on 114LSA should pass.

Even better a 236/236 on 115LSA in that size motor.

With the testing set the idle rpm as high as allowed. (In my area that is 1200rpm. I set mine to 1150rpm) and chop timing up to 3000rpm. (Really chop it, like set it to 12 degrees)

This is if you have idle and roller dyno testing.

Set your fans a little hotter than normal as well.

That should get you there
Good luck,
Chris

Great, thanks. Any idea what kind of power I should be able to get out of that cam? (ie, will I lose much? or not really)?

Comp will grind any XEr cam to your spec for about 350-400 bucks.
I personally dont think you will lose very much (If at all)

There are guys dynoing 490RWHP and over 500RWTQ with a 230 cam in 427s
