Default Angle mill?

I dropped my heads off at a local shop for milling and they said I should angle mill so my intake ports match up better. Anyone have any advice? They will not start until tuesday so I have a few days to think about it. They are 799s and will be milled to 59cc. Thanks

Default 799 Heads

I'm not sure what their logic is in angle milling your heads. With first generation small blocks, angle milling helped with aligning the intake manifold fasteners. Flat surfacing of the gen one heads created an angular misalignment. With the LSX style manifolds, the fasteners are more vertical...I would think they would want to flat surface your LS heads and elongate the LS intake manifold holes to create more of a slot? Are you surfacing the heads due to correct surface warpage or are you after additional compression?

I'm after compression. I had to get a new short block and thought I would get some 799/243s and up the compression. I have -4cc reliefs so I thought I could get away with a 59cc chamber even with my cam. Torquer 3

I would not angle mill the heads..bad idea and very labor intense at times. You would have to recorrect the intake flange and that would likely throw the manifold off. Recorrect bolt holes and pads...
I hope the shop you have them at know what theyre doin to start with...
