ANYTHING other than a stock PCM set up (ie stock LS1 set up) you are going to need a tune period no and or buts about it.

I would do the heads I would not do the cam really you are looking at very little gains and if your going to crack the engine open to do a cam change I would seriously think of something else. In the lines of a 224 or a 228R or something along the lines if your looking for a mild and great performing cam.

The heads are a great option you should pick up about 20 hp easily with the heads over stock LS1 heads.

Now again I would wait if you have the heads and get a cam and then do the whole set up because unless your doing it yourself ur going to get charged to do everything but again, the cam not a good idea the heads great idea.

Good luck.

I originally had an LS6 Cam, LS6 Heads, and LS6 intake swapped on but decided to go bigger before tuning... it drove and idled fine without a tune. However, I would eventually get a tune to squeeze out some additional performance.

get a thunder racing tr224 or a BRE 224 or a tsp 224r or a EPS cam, great power easy to tune good mileage.a good tuner can make these cams sound like stock but they can make close to 400 rwhp.

i have the ls6 setup on my car also. my car is no dyno queen but it made 354hp/346tq through a 3800 stall. it ran 11.9@113 chirping the tires i net 18 mpg mixed highway and city. before the tune i made 325hp so i picked up 24hp with the tune.

now,im defintely going look into getting the ls6 heads.i think i will wait on the cam.some local guy suggested i do the whole ls6 thing, like heads, intake cam and upgrade the hardware(i.e.arp studs, springs, rockers, etc)

my goal is 400rwhp.for the 400,would i have to upgrade,rods pistons,etc?
can i achieve 400 with ls6 heads,intake,cam and a tune?

thanks guys!

rods and pistons will be fine and yes you can hit 400rwhp with h/c but remember to have headers and larger injectors. some dyno's read higher than others and really a dyno is to only tune it, the real numbers is what it does at the track. btw i have a tr227/224 cam for sale which would be a bit better than the 224/224 cam
