You sound like you're on the same road I was on a month ago! FWIW, here's what I did.
I went with Comp 918 springs and the Ti retainers. I also bought the Comp hardened stock length 7.4" pushrods.
Do you need the install kit from Thunder? Well, no but I bought it and it was great. All the gaskets and the crank bolt were there. You could do some selective shopping on SDPC and price the parts seperately but that wasn't worth the hastle for me.
Make sure you have a little spare oil ready, as well as at least two full bottles of coolant. I also got the chain from Katech. Looks like a pretty stout piece.
Here's a couple of great sites to look at.

Make sure you have a shop manual handy, too. Overall, a pretty easy job. Just be patient with the springs! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Invest in 16 telescoping pen magnets. Cheap insurance from dropping a lifter into the oil pan.
