Question Need Quick Help!! Just started the car after my head and cam setup!

Ok, I just finished installing my PP LS6 heads, G5X2 cam, and underdrive pulley.. i made sure when i start that my oil pressure comes up and it did right away so that was fine. then about a few seconds later a flashing SES light came up. Now I don't have any way to read the codes its giving me but do you suggest I should wait till I get the codes and find out what the problem is before starting it again or is this a normal thing after a head and cam install ? Please let me know.

P.S. this is a 2002 ws6 m6 with long tubes and offroad pipes

Sounds like one or more plug wires are not connected. Flashing SES is a misfire condition. Check all your ignition connections. Hope this helps.

You may have to disable the code. Some camshafts make the computer think it's misfiring.

Flashing SES=misfires, which for a big cam are somewhat normal. As said above, check the plug wires....see if the car is running good, go drive it.

If it turns out its just the cam doing it, tuning can fix that.

SES lamp is for missfire code, flashing SES means severe running condition that is most likely cat. convertor damaging. This needs investigation.

I got that with all my cams. You can increase the allowed misses in edit so it doesn't code. I agree that you should run the car and see if it is stumbleing, or down on power. If the car drives well and has good power all is well. You still need to pull the codes to see what is going on.

Default Thanks !!

Thank you so much guys for the replies ! I went ahead and yes all of you guys were right it was one of the wires which was lose. other than that it sounds great!!

One question though.
The first time I started it up it Idled PERFECT that I totally forgot that I was supposed to have idle problems with this cam and it ran just like that for a few minutes. Then when I started it up again the idle issue came in but it ran fine after the car was warm. Why did it not have that issue the First time I started it ??

jmX----> Your the man !! Your website and the instructions saved me MANY times

"Why did it not have that issue the First time I started it ??"

I believe it's because the computer had not learned the new cam yet; it still had tuning based on the old cam.

This is true every time, you should use LS1Edit to bump idle speed desired to850 or so rpm, but i set final idle setting after giving PCM learn time, by adjusting TB stop, this will achieve hot restart quality, while keeping IAC counts in its range. If you go too far rpm will hang too high after decell, just set it right below this point and you willl be ok.

My big cam is moody with both hot and cold starts. Just be patient and let the engine warm up. Once warm, driveabilty is perfect.

Either way, get that sucker tuned.
