Default Your thoughts on this cam choice??

I've got a 01 WS6 M6 W/ full bolt-On's, 3.90 gears and a bunch of suspension work. I'm currently doing a cam swap (nothing big...something street friendly and something with good power under the curve) and I wanted to get your guy's take/thoughts on this camshaft I'm considering. Too small? Would I net decent gains w/ it and a tune?

219/223 .600/.600 on a 112LSA

That seems really small even for street duty.

a 224/224 would be a slightly better choice IMO.

Would the 224/224 have good power under the curve? I don't want to spin the car to the moon. Looking for some nice torque throughout the powerband and something that would net me roughly 35-45 more RWH.

If you want something small then go with the 224. I'm sure it'll be very streetable

Venegence VRX3 or look at the ESP cams or 228 cams and if you like good torque this may not be what you want but look into the el torro

I really enjoy my Patriot cam. Excellent powerband starting low. I have ZERO problems with it as my DD. In fact, there is room to go bigger and still great as a DD. I will probably be throwing in a TSP Torquer V2 when I get some ported 243 heads later down the road though..

The Patriot cam I speak of is 225/229 .580/.590 114+4. Still not a baby cam, but not a huge cam. May want to consider it. It cranks up and goes on a cold start without any hesitation or waiting for it to warm up.

Like the others have stated -- I'd look at the VRX3 from Vengeance or one of the good 224 cams out there. They would offer great driveability and plenty of power under the curve.

If you wanted to go bigger (I'd recommend you stay in the 224 - 228 range), for the sake of comparison check out the cam specs in my sig -- this cam is also quite street friendly....I can let out of the clutch and idle away without touching the throttle. That being said, it still loves the throttle!

Go bigger. 224 or 228 would work great. I just installed TSPs 224R, just waiting on the tune.

Cams in this range dont make the most HP, but they make good power lower, which is part of the reason why i went with the 224R over the cam i had in it.

I have a tsp tr228 on 112lsa and it's fine for street driving. Granted I also have 4.10's but even before the gears it was pretty friendly I think compared to others.

Its not that big cams are bad, its just that the OP is looking for power under the curve, and a big cam isnt necesarily where you want to be looking for that. All the bigger stuff makes power higher up.

I agree with the above statement. I guess I am missing something, but why do people worry so much about power under the curve? If you are racing you will be going from 3.5k plus.

IMO, if your gonna spend the money on a cam, tune and install i would go with a pretty big cam. i have never rode in a cammed car and i run the old MTI X1 230/227 cam and it drives waaaay like stock.

If you plan on racing from the idle to 3000 rpm range than a small cam would be good. Last time i checked we race till almost redline in every gear so why wouldnt you want more power up top
