Why? Are you NEEDING to replace your block? Keep in mind, the LS1 in the f-body is the same as the ls1 in the vette. Unless you're talking about an LS6? In that case there are conflicting opinions as to which is better.

CR5 block has a different bore, although all the external components will bolt on to it, including the mounts and transmission.

Yes, but if I understand his question, he's wondering if there's any gain by switching to a CORVETTE block, which is the same as the F-body (except LS6 in which case there are minimal differences) A C5-R block is a different ballpark.
