Question Oil in coolant??

I have about 200o miles on my new 408 stroker lq9 engine. i broke a rocker at about 1500 miles and ever since then it has been smoking on start up and using oil. Last night i found where the oil was going, the radiator. But as far as i can tell there is no coolant in the oil pan. Does anybody have any idea on what could be happening? thanks

I dont think it necessarily HAS to run both ways, its possible the oil can only be mixing into the cooling system or vice versa... Harbor freight sells a leakdown tester for less than $30 that could probably help in diagnosing a gasket issue before you tear it all apart if youre having doubts...

Just wondering... Do you have the original in line PS cooler. Sometimes when they crack theyll leak fluid into the coolant giving the illusion of oil in the coolant

Default oil in coolant

What i do not understand is why the coolant is not milky looking. Oil in pan is clean on dipstick have not drained oil in pan yet. Will get a leak down tester. When you put pressure to the radiator it should force coolant to the oil pan right?

He's losing motor oil... Not PS fuild. If your losing a 1/2 quart every 50 miles. Stop driving it.. You have a major issue..

ya thats def a lot of oil. And usually you will coolant in the oil but not all the time ith a head gasket Ive seen a couple to where its only oil in the coolant do a compression test and a pressure test on the radiator and see what you find.

You guys are right on the power steering. It has the in line cooler and the power steering resevoir is low,I can also see a bit of green in it. Any idea were you can get one of the in line coolers or is their another way to go? Still losing alot of oil and it really is not smoking alot for as much oil as it is going through.Trying to talk my self out of pulling the motor back out i guess.

I've prevented this problem before it became a problem on my Firehawk.

Order an upper radiator hose without the P/S cooler built in, part # 10271554
Install it in place of your stock P/S cooler.

Then, go to Advanved Auto and buy an EconoKool Trans-Cooler, part # 242009 and some extra p/s hose, to install the Trans-cooler as your new P/S cooler.

Parts are completely seperate, and no way for one to contaiminate the other.

maybe your oil rings aren't sealing,or your valve seals are leaking.check your spark plugs and do leak down test .
