Default trans am exhaust clearances

I am in the final stages of my engine rebuilding and have a question about the exhaust configuration from 98 to 2002. will a 2002 exhaust manifold, aftermarket, fit into the 98. reason I ask is I have built the motor to 2003 ls6 spec's without the egr and want to order shorty headers for a 2000 to 2002 that will bolt to catted Stainless Steel Works y pipe. I am assuming that the only difference should be no provision for the egr. Am I correct in my thinking?
Thanks for the help in advance.

the only reason any of the manifolds or headers are different from year to year is the emissions provisions. if your not running the emissions it won't matter.
