Ls6 ticking sometimes
Ls6 ticking sometimes I've installed my LS6 recently in my rx7. SOMETIMES when im cruising on the highway, a ticking sound is starting, it can stay for 30 secs or all the time the car would run. I stop the engine, start it 5 min later, no ticking...I open the hood and listen, it looks like its coming from the intake ( valvetrain under it). The engine is stock by the way.
Any idea? Test i can do or anything?

If its a stock LS6 with 243 heads and LS6 valves you will experience ticking. The valves are very light and the Ls6 is notorious for sounding like a sowing machine regardless of oil or oil pressure.

Spend $20 at Sears on a mechanic's stethoscope and probe the valve covers, lifter galley cover, front timing cover, etc...you'll get more detail.
Regarding your question about the pickup o-ring or pump, unless these were recently installed *AND* your oil pressure at hot idle is below 30psi, very unlikely they're the cause.
The motor was installed this summer. I've put the LS1 oil pan on the ls6 for the clearance. I've put the ls6 pickup tube o-ring on my ls1 pickup tube. I'll check my oil pressure this week end.
