Best budget LQ9 setup?

Default Best budget LQ9 setup?

I know everyone will say L92 heads, big cam, carb, etc.

I am running this LQ9 in my very lightweight foxbody coupe and the funds are not there right now to do the above setup. For now I need to figure out the cheapest way to get performance out of the LQ9. Right now it is a stocker w/longtubes.

cam & tune.

I don't see a better bang for your buck. No reason that a cam & tune can't get you 400+ at the wheels through longtubes.

Anyone got a recommendation for a cam to work with the LQ9 with stock 317 heads and a 3800 stall converter w/3.73's and a 28inch et street.

Carb or FI?

If carb, look for cams w/ smaller lca's 109-112.

Not sure what Comp Ratio your running but you could do a top end cam like a TRex, MS4, Vindicator as with the light weight will not effect the bottom end like in a heavier FBody. You CAN make big power for the money.

These cams do like a higher comp ratio to help with flow so keep that in mind.

Any cam upgrade will generally require springs, and pushrods, and if you deck the heads, you will have to refigure out PS length anyways. Retainer upgrade if you run anything larger then Beehives which you should be with the cams I mentioned.

Also timing chain, oil pump, gaskets and the other blah, blah, blahs will be needed.

I got a 98 TA with an LQ9 I got ls6 heads a 230 232 cam ls6 intake with a TH350 3500 stall n it runs great man.
