Default LS7 Lifters

Did GM ever switch over to LS7 Lifters in LS1 motors, or are they just direct replacements for the LS1 lifters now? I have a stock '04 LS1 from a C5 and I'm trying to determine what lifters were stock.

Reason I am asking, is when Patrick G spe'c out my cam, he gave me a formula for calculating the theotretical push-rod length, and he used 7.380 for stock push rod length and added the 2x the difference in the base circle. I had always heard 7.400 was stock length, but I know LS7's require short rods due to the cup sitting up higher.. I know Pat seems to know his stuff, so I thought maybe my '04 motor cam with the LS7 Lifters, hence the shorter push rods? Thanks, Jason.

The LS7s are direct replacements for our LS1s.

Yep, the LS7's are now the only stock replacement. You cant even buy original LS1 lifters anymore, GM will sell you the LS7's instead. I have had mine in my combo for 3yrs & about 50k miles, never had a issue & I drive mine daily.

Just put a set of ls7 lifters in a t/a this weekend. No need to change pushrod length and as far as I've heard 7.400 is the stock length.

That's good to hear! I was expecting to have to go with shorter push rods, with the cup sitting up some .050/.060 higher..?? I will, of course, check with a p/r checker before final assembly. Wouldnt be the end of the world if I had to buy my fourth set of differentn lenght pushrods!
