Default is it safe to reuse stock block?

well guys this winter i plan on running a 347, mainly because i dont see any reason why id buy anything else as long as my stock block was good enough. it currently has around 60k on it.

i just want to know is it alright to rebuild the stock motor? and how many miles do you typically get out of them? the biggest ill go is 383 is there any problems with that?

Yes, if it's not damaged re-use it. 383 is fine, as well.

as long as nothing is wrong with it, ur fine. 383 is just a 347 with a 4" stroke. torque is nice.

I don't see why not using it. If there's nothing wrong it can easily handle a 383.

Compare the price of what you need to get done to your block to that of a new one and see if it's still worth it. That's what i would do.

I would personally get a custom cam specced for a 382.

Great Advice. MS4 generally gets swallowed up with the larger cubic inches and your leaving power possibly on the table.

EPS a sponsor has been making some sick cams as of late. Also good to speak with is Vengence or even Rapid Motorsports.

does anyone no if it would be a good idea to run my prc 5.3 heads with a 383 and the ms3? the cam and heads have less than 10k miles on it i was thinking i could just send the heads off to be polished and milled, and try and keep the same cam unless i can get an ms4 in there but im not sure about the pistons tho...

Again, my thought on this would be to sell both and then replace with parts made for a 4".

So you can build a 383 stroker motor using the stock block?
