Most cams are going to cost about the same. Off the shelf as well as custom grinds are give or take 25$ of each other usually (depending on grinder or cores). The only other cheaper alternative is to buy used for about 150$ less.

Watch the vendors around Labor Day weekend, sometimes they have holiday sales. I bought my Thunder Racing 230/236 cam when it was on sale last year for $350.
