Default LQ9 vs LS1 crank differences?

I'm building an LQ9 to replace my fragged LS1 in my 98 TA. I'm not sure of the year of the engine, came out of a delivery van.

In my sleep deprived stupor, I may have goofed up the crank snout removing the crank. I think it can be fixed, but it may just be easier and cheaper to just reuse my LS1 crank.

Can I reuse my crank without any issues?

So I guess the balancing would be off if I used the LS1 crank then?

I would balance most any rotating assembly I was piecing together.

Just from the rod/piston weight difference, I wouldn't use the ls1/5.3 crank with 6.0 rods/pistons unless I've contacted the balance shop. Other way around works fine. If you're using aftermarket pistons you should still be ok w/ the lighter balanced crank since they are usually lighter than stock pieces.

Yeah, they can balance most anything. But if you are using heavier pistons than with the original balance, they may have to add heavy metal to the crank which can get expensive.

Like the other guy said, the other way around is typically easier.

It all depends on the weight of your pistons and rods.

Gotcha, thanks guys I hoping my buddy can fix my 6.0 crank, shouldn't be too big of an issue with it, so we'll just stick with that.
