I don't think anyone here actually puts their own engines together....
that would mean getting dirty <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I thought this was LS1tech????? I guess nobody knows cuz they dont take the time to measure anything and just slap a motor together! I'm in the middle of putting a set of Eagle h beams in my new motor and I've come up with .0025 rod clearence. Its cuz SBC rods measure .940 width and LS1 rods are .945 width. So i ended up with .010 too much side rod clearence. Anyone else run into this problem? Or did anyone bother to measure?

Clevite or Federal Mogul should make oversized bearings to compensate. I'd tell you the clearence but I haven't had to dig that far yet.

Jason bearings arn't going to fix this problem. I've got the right bearings, its the side clearence between the rods that im talking about.

what is wrong with having extra side clearance? Seems to me like it would be okay....so long as you have enough and not too much!

I used eagle h beams had .022 side clearance won't be a problem maybe excessive oil in cylinder's due to clearance runs fine good pressure.

I'm thinking it will be a little low on the oil pressure with the extra side clearence. Does that sound right?

Typically on a sb Chevy you look for .010 to .020". The factory tolerence for the LS1 is .00433-.020" So .0025" is cutting it close. You could try mix-matching the rods to try to get it closer.
