Default Head Bolt

on a ls1 block running ls6 heads, I was looking up ARP head bolt kits but it shows two different numbers.

does anyone know the correct set for this?

It according to what year block you have. My 98 came with all long bolts. When I blew it up and bought a shortblock from TSP they were using later model blocks and they had 2 different sizes/lengths of headbolts. And the later model bolts are cheaper too!.

you need to run the 3609 if you are using an engine produced before 04. For 04+ LSx engines you can use the bolts in the second link. I just spun a bearing in my engine and have a brand new set of the 3609's sitting on the shelf. Damn it!

*edit just realized it's in a porsche!

Like these guys have said, it depends what year the motor is. If you can get that information then you will know which set of head bolts to buy.

I have an 04 GTO and was giving the wrong bolts as well so make sure if someone reads this with an 04 you check your VIN or plate under the hood as mine was a late 03 and needed the longer bolts due to it's manufacture late in 03.

Ok I appreciate the help. I have a slight more difficult issue. I dont have the car the block cam e out of, I just have a ls1 block and a separate set of heads. Is the blocks cast number going to tell me which year the block is or do I just have to guess?
