Default Lifter Tapping

Last winter I noticed that I had a lifter tapping. It's been 9 months or so and it hasn't improved or gotten worse. My question is this; should I be OK to do a cam swap? I don't have the $ to do the heads (with lifters) right now and wanted to know some opinions. My motor has 93, XXX miles on it and is otherwise great. Thanks.

I would not swap a cam if you've got a tapping lifter. Save your money and just do your whole top end at once.

I also have had a stuck lifter or (ticking) for over a year. It drives ok, but there is a noticeable loss in power, oil pressure is fine, but when WOT it flat out hauls @ss. Where can I get this Rislone? I might want to try it for now;as I'm currently saving green to build a 418.
Much appreciated

I had a lifter ticking, car ran great! Oil pressure was good. Turned out to be this:

If you're planning to do a cam swap, Just save up another $140, call up Texas-Speed, and order some of these:

Thanks guys. I may just pull the heads and replace the lifters and trays with the cam swap. It'll be easier to do the valve springs anyway.

Ouch! That sucks. Well, I picked some up and will give it a try. If there's no cure, then it's most likely internal damage. I don't drive the car everyday, but with the lifter ticking it's sorta taken away the "edge" of cruising around town in my muscle car
Pictures are great btw.
Thanks

Not trying to be a jerk, but you have to pull the heads to do a cam swap anyway.

If I had to pull the heads off anyways, it wouldn't be an issue. I think that's my route anyways.

OK, you guys have me curious. I just cammed my LS6 and can't imagine being able to pull it without removing the lifters. I've built tuned ports & LT1s in the past and obviously you can raise the lifters from under the intake. Not really an option on these engines though...

School me please.

On the LS1 rotate the cam quickly back and forth and the lifters will push up and "lock" into the lifter trays. although its a good idea to use something to make sure they stay in the trays.

I see. So you're just hoping they stay up & worst case scenario, you have to pull the heads anyway.

Use dowel pins to hold them up.
