Default LS7 Lifter Preload?

What does everyone shoot for, i've read .030 to .120?? I am at .100 right now and she is noisy! Can't stand it. Should i go up to .125 with my 7.400's or order some new one and go down a bit to say .080 or soo.

I shot for .080 with mine. I think i ended up at about .083 or so. I don't think my valvetrain is noisy. I thought the recommendation was .080 to .100.
I thought the less preload you run the more noise there would be, maybe I'm wront though.

Thats how i see it too, less would be more noisy. But mine is in between .087 and .100 depends on how i meansure the pushrod checker. With the EO/IC method i come up with 7.262 + preload with the TDC method i get 7.275 + preload. I went with the TDC method and got 7.375 rods which is .100 preload. And she ticks really loud part throttle not to bad at idle but you can hear a slight tick. Got all new valvetrain, just got done putting on LE2 heads, cam package, new lifters, timing chain set, oil pump. It runs like a champ! Just loud and annoying!

Mine is at .060 and is quiet. A lot depends on the cam lobes too.

I believe the entire internal stroke of the lifter plunger is only .200 so you can run into issues with the lifter going solid as well if you go too far.

Well i just ordered some 7.350 rods, that should get me down to .062 to .075 preload range. Well try that and see what happens. Hope she gets quite! lol

I'm going to be running around .050" on mine. Should have it fired up this weekend if all goes well. 7.30" PR's on milled heads and LS7 lifters.
