stock ls1 on a stock 2000 ls1 engine what is the max rpm i can run without any modifacations what so ever? i been hearing 6800rpm which can be changed by a hand held tuner with out switching rod bolts is fine?
We usually set our rev limiters around 6700-6800. Most of the cams made for the stock cubes will peak power around 6400-6500 so there isn't much of a need to spin anything higher. We have found that as long as we stay beneath 7000 on stock rotating assembly, there are almost no issues.
Well with the stock cam it won't really make any more power after after about 5600 so 6000ish is good. Stock springs won't give you good valvetrain control after that anyway. Cam, hardened pushrods and better springs what John said though I never intentionally spun my old H/C/I 346 over 6500 as it had the weaker rodbolts being a 98..... 01-02 can definately handle 6700-6800...
