Heat cycle question
I am getting my TSP224/224 .581"/.581" 114LSA cam put in this weekend. How many heat cycles do I need? I am also going to have to drive the car back home about 1 1/2 hours. If I putt home will it be ok on the springs? I have comp double springs.
edit: I already did a search and couldn't find anything about the drive home

It sounds like he is more worried about the 1.5 hours of continuous operation (the drive home) than anything else.
Faced with the same situation, I would take the car on a 10 mile or so jaunt, watching the guages VERY closely the whole time. The excursion would finish up back at the install shop.
Let it set for 1/2 hour or so.
Check all fluid levels and check for any fluid leaks.
I would then keep it under 2500 rpm for the most part, but vary the RPM range, taking it up to 5K a time or 2 while rowing through the gears.
Stop about eveyr 1/2 hour on the trip back and check oil level. Take a couple extra QTs of oil along with you as a precaution.
You should be fine.
JMHO ....

Start the car up and hold the rpms around 1500 till the car gets at full operating temperature/15 minutes. Cool car all the way down. Depending on temp maybe an hour. Start the car up and let it idle up till full temp again. Let it cool down and change the oil. You are ready to go. At 500 miles change the oil again and you are done.

I might be able to keep up with you now. I talked to Jason and as soon as it gets warmer we talked about going to either the Rock or Piedmont. Did you get your clutch fixed yet?
