Default Yank Adjustable Timing Set

I'm using the yank adjustable timing set to degree my cam and I have a possibly stupid question. After I set the advance in my cam do I leave the yank set on there and run that or do I put my stock timing set back on?? I'm curious as to how the advance stays in there if I take the yank off?

Maybe I'm missing something thanks
